    Hey Carl,

Photography is great to earn some extra money, only, thanks to the cheaper compact cameras a lot of people think they’re suddenly “the Master” and offer their services at weddings. Haha, I don’t mind, I’m known for making a video during events in church and believe me, that “sells” since it’s not allowed to do this in our church.

There are several sites where people can show their work and over the whole globe one can sell his pictures as you already wrote. A small period I worked together with a famous Picture Artist, Noëlle van der Lende and she taught me a lot about the trade.

Maybe a good idea to bring an article about the so called bridge cameras, most people don’t know them and that’s a pitty.

Wish you a great day 🙂

      Hello Farid
Thanks for reading my article. I agree that many people think that all u do it point nad click and presto! u have a great picture. Unfortunately, that is not the case and they soon run out of business as nobody wants a bad picture. Your suggestion about bridge cameras is intriguing and I will look into it and see about writing an article on them. Thanks for stopping by and I wish u well.

Great article! I have a friend who is a great photographer and I am always telling her that she should be selling her photos online. I will definitely pass this post on to her and maybe I can convince her to set up an online shop. Which of the online market places do you recommend? Are there pros and cons to going through a marketplace like Etsy vs. setting up your own website?

      Hi Nancy
Glad u found my article useful. To make some quick money u can use a site like Shutterstock. The downside of these sites is that they only give u around 20% – 30% at most for your pic once it sells. If u are running your own website then u get to keep all the profit which is much better. Also, u can start your own website for free at Wealthy Affiliate. They will even teach u how to get set up and get your website going for free. It really is a great learning platform to launch from and it costs u nothing to do it. I hope your friend finds this article useful and I will gladly answer any questions she may have.

      Regards
      Carl

Fantastic! I would love to hear more about the actual outlets of making money, what are the best sites to sell my photos, I am starting an Aerial photography Business n Canada, and would love to have as many venues as possible to sell my wares! The cameras are real expensive though so if I bought one it would have to be ready to perform for years to come, not be outdated right away what cameras are the best? Get back to me on this I ll be back to check your site out as I progress in my Business venture.
    thanks

      Hi Scott
Thanks for stopping by and reading my article. Your aerial business sounds awesome! I wish u well with it. Yes the cameras can be a little steep but it will last u for years to come. As far a places to sell your pictures u can create your own website and sell them yourself and keep all the profit instead of only getting a percentage. Wealthy Affiliate can get u up and running in no time with your own online photography business even for complete newbies. Click my review of them in the menu above. As far as places to sell your photos there are bunches of websites but a few are Istockphoto, Adobe, Shutterstock, Fotolia, BlueMelon, Smugmug.

    Hi Carl,

You have made the technical terms very easy to understand. I have always used an automatic camera for taking photographs without having to worry about lighting, adjustments, shutter speed and all that, and I still prefer it that way. Do you think I can take good quality photos with auto-settings? and does a smartphone camera work as well?

I guess without the skills of a photographer I can’t sell my photos online, or maybe you know of a website that accepts photos from amateurs? Do let me know if you have further suggestions on this, thank you!

      Hi Moon
I am glad u found my article useful. Yes, u can take pictures with an auto camera and get some really good shots with one. But as u gain experience u will want to get certain effects and then u will need a more advanced camera. A smartphone camera does not give u good pictures, the quality is just too low.
U can sell your photos, whether u are a pro or an amateur, at places like Shutterstock, Adobe, Etsy, SmugMug, to name a few. I hope this helps u out and I wish u great success in your endeavor. 🙂
